It saves lost positions and ruins won positions. Many winning players throw away the full point by trapping the enemy king without giving check.

  1. 1When winning, always check whether the opponent has at least one legal move before making a quiet move.
  2. 2Keep a safe king square or a movable pawn available instead of capturing everything automatically.
  3. 3When losing, look for stalemate resources by sacrificing pieces, blocking your own pawns, or forcing the opponent to remove your last legal moves.
