What it means
Attraction occurs when a player entices a piece to a square (often using an active, but not a passive sacrifice) where it will later come under attack. This can sometimes also be called a Decoy tactic, although some users apply that to luring a piece AWAY from a square instead of towards one.
Why it matters
Mastering tactical motifs helps you convert initiative into concrete gains and avoid common calculation errors.
How to apply it
- 1Check forcing moves first and compare candidate responses.
- 2Identify defenders, overloaded pieces and tactical alignments.
- 3Validate the final position before committing to the sequence.
